This new family home in the suburb of Carnegie was a great collaboration between client, architect and Basus Build. A complex demolition of the existing semi-detached house required careful planning and precise execution. A large easement running the length of the block necessitated an unorthodox design which included 6m deep screw piles!
The home itself used pre-fabricated structural insulated panels (SIP’s) for the external walls, while inside polished concrete floors complimented a feature painted ceiling and beautiful Blackbutt cabinetry.
This high performance home included a heat recovery ventilation system, concrete slab hydronic heating, double glazed windows and lift and slide doors.
Basus Build’ built our family home from 2019-2020, approx 12 months from demolition to getting the keys. From the beginning, Brendan was clear and professional to deal with. Communication was prompt and contract negotiation smooth. Due to the site and design, there was a high degree of difficulty. Care had to be taken to protect existing assets, both our adjoining neighbour’s property and a storm water asset. We could not be happier with the way Brendan dealt with this challenge. He was calm and conscientious throughout, which made a world of difference to the experience. His crew were very friendly and professional as well. Our neighbours were kept in the loop and commented on the diligence of the team, and the pace of the build. The quality of the finished build is superb; friends who are builders and project managers have singled out how well it is constructed. Brendan and his team did exemplary work. Conventional wisdom is that building a house is hard and stressful, but that was not our experience at all, and this is largely due to Brendan. Commissioning his services was the best decision we have made and consider ourselves fortunate. We wholeheartedly recommend him and his team to anyone wishing to complete a high-quality project.
